MENLO PARK, Nov. 3, 2026 — Republican candidate for California governor Steve Hilton cast his ballot in Menlo Park on Tuesday morning, according to KTVU FOX 2. After voting, Hilton spoke with the television station about his closing message to voters as he faced Democrat Xavier Becerra in the election to succeed Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Watch KTVU FOX 2’s November 3 video: Steve Hilton after casting his ballot in Menlo Park. KTVU published the video at 3:03 p.m. Pacific time. This is independent television reporting, not footage produced by California58. The station confirms that he had voted but its description does not identify the exact polling room, so California58 is not assigning an unverified street address to his vote.

His campaign and the statewide choice

Hilton is a former political adviser in Britain and former television host. His campaign has focused on California’s cost of living, gasoline prices, taxes and government regulation. He has proposed substantial tax reductions and regulatory changes, some of which would require legislative approval.

His opponent, former California attorney general and U.S. health secretary Xavier Becerra, argues for continuing and adjusting state housing and energy policies while emphasizing his experience in government. The candidates differ on how to reduce living costs and on the state’s relationship with the federal administration.

Hilton campaigned in Southern California during the final days before the election. His Menlo Park vote offers a Bay Area Election Day counterpart to Becerra’s voting appearance in Sacramento. Neither candidate’s ballot choices on other contests or propositions should be inferred from their public campaign positions.

When will results be known?

California polls close at 8 p.m. Pacific time. Election-night counts are preliminary, and additional valid ballots can be processed in the following days. California58 will follow official results without declaring an outcome before the relevant election authorities report it.
